Sterile Processing Technician – Mt. San Jacinto College

Sterile Processing Technician Training Program

This course is brought to you by Mt. San Jacinto College Contract and Community Education and delivered by Career Training Solutions.

Start your healthcare career as the first line of defense against infection.

Sterile Processing Technicians—also known as Central Supply Technicians or Medical Equipment Preparers—play a critical role in patient safety. They work behind the scenes in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, physician offices, dental offices, and other ambulatory care settings to ensure medical instruments and equipment are safe for use.

This 80-hour blended-learning program combines the ease of online learning with 12 hours of in-person laboratory training. Online classes are taught in real time by a live instructor in a virtual classroom using Zoom. Students actively engage with their instructor and classmates through interactive lessons, demonstrations, and discussion—no self-paced or pre-recorded content. In-person lab days provide hands-on experience with instrument handling, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes.

** HSPA requires 400-hours hands-on experience in a sterile processing department.  Students may sit for the exam and receive a provisional credential provided they complete 400-hours of hands-on experience within 6 months of passing the exam.
